New Year = a New hope?

2007 was probably the worst year of my life. But hopefully things will be good this year, I am hoping for a chance to get an interview with wyeth for a pharm rep in Rochester. In addition the possibility of San Fran is up in the air since I will be attending a career fair in San fran in february. I am shooting for rochester, san diego, san fran, and boston.

Finally I pick up a snowboard and got my ass handed to me today. Still pretty fun, hopefully I get better at it.

I also purchased a PS3. Now what I don't like so far is one the freaking patch not being released by Rock band to play their game with guitar hero guitars. I am pissed. I want to play Rock band just solo, and use my guitar hero guitar like xbox 360 users but can't. Its very annoying. Why does Activision have to be a pain in everyones ass in this thing? Why did they block the patch? Its pretty dumb to me.

I have been playing GH3 a ton, Persona 3 a lot, and downloaded tekken 5 and castlevania. Overall I loved the wii, but the PS3 is a much better system for me.

Lets all pray that 1) Tung gets a job....... and well 1) Tung gets a job. The new year ought to bring more to me then sadness, financial constraints ,and drama. I need none of those a ton of happiness, jobbyness, and love. I hoping to mend a lot of broken bonds this year.

Interviews we definitely tough

Hard interviews and in an area when i just didn't have enough experience in wet lab work. Still waiting for a response, but not really keeping my fingers cross, just going to chug along and hopefully continue the search. I will be meeting with abbott in february and hopefully some fruits will come from that.

Interviewing with Pfizer

So i went to boston this weekend and stay with my friends Eric and Pat. It was excellent. I missed them very much and catching up with them was really great. I also brought Natalie up with me, she got to meet them which was nice, however I actually ended up taking her to NH while I stayed in Boston. So i had two interview which I really wasn't expecting to be an interview at all. But exciting non the less.

I interviewed for two positions. Both of these positions are entry level positions, however a great way to get into the industry.

The first position was a Research biology position in Groten Connecticut, where I interview with "Bill" a PhD within the company. Going into the interview I really wasn't prepared much at all. I went with the punches and felt that the interview actually went well with Bill telling me that there was a possibility of second interviews and giving me dates to make sure I was available. I ended up with his card and a good feeling.

The second position in Cambridge Boston, a position I'm shooting for is a Research technology development group. The interview was decent until "Steven" said I kind of had two specialties: Biology and Chemistry. He asked me to picked, which I picked biology, which I have to be genuinely more interested in as analytical work is a bit tedious. Afterwards he side blinded me with some questions about my biology skills! Having not really done any bio in a about 2-3 years it was tough pulling all the techniques off the top of my head. In the end he said I've never told anybody this but I'd like you to re-write your resume! He wanted me to make it more biology oriented and to email it directly to him as well as submit it online.

Afterwards there were cocktails where I interacted with the interviewers and was hoping to continue to talk to Steve, which unfortunately his group was not there. I did talk to Bill further and talked to a few other people who felt I was a strong candidate as well as gave me great advice to move forward in my search.

Finally a great boost was the talk to one of the pfizer reception people who helped sign people in who told me that the amount of effort both the interviewers put into my interview is far beyond many other people get. Which makes me feel hopeful.

I am now in NH getting Natalie after a crazy fun weekend of interviewing, hanging with old old friends. Hopefully next week i will be back in Cambridge!

Finally the real job hunt begins

This thursday i will be attending a job fair in boston in hopes to obtain a job with Pfizer. In addition at the new year I hope to get a interview with some people from Abbot to find a job as well. Resumes are going out everywhere, and real job hunting has begun. Xerox has become a great asset in learning many things about business life and working in a business environment. I am hoping to quickly find a position and pack up and leave Rochester ASAP.

Funny & Embarrassing Moments for Doctors

A man comes into the ER and yells, "My wife's going to have her baby in the cab!" I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress, and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there were several cabs -and I was in the wrong one. This is so freaking hilarious!I love it.Tung

Everything

Xerox has been real fun, kinda boring at times, but its a job. Been playing lots of bike polo and doing bike contest and stuff. Rode the Pumpkin king bmx jam and that went well. I didn't place, but it was still realllllllly fun. I also went to Potsdam and visited the school, saw lots of people I haven't seen in a while which was really fun. Too bad the casino took all my energy, but it was worth seeing those people even for a little. I also got a new bmx frame for the time being as my last one crack. I'll end up taking a pic of it and stuff later. Planning a trip to san fran come either end of nov or dec. Other than that everything is on point. I really want school to just be over, and either find a job or get out of here. I'd like to get out to the west coast, there isn't much keeping me here in Rochester other then a few things. And there are some things in Rochester that jut make me want to get out ASAP!

So whats my next major purchase? Hopefully a Mac Book Pro! Depending on the $ situation in months to come.

P.S I got this thing, and its freaking awesome!!!!

More cyclocross pictures!!!!

This time I placed top 20!!! I got 16th out of a field of 37 which was great. I ended up actually getting a flat on the huge downhill, falling twice, once on a hill and once in gravel, then riding on my rim until Dave Vavlo got me a wheel. Thank goodness for him. I lost about 5 places because of the flat, but acutally made up for it and caught the person I was chasing again. I was kinda upset cause I may have been able to place top 10 if I didn't flat and fall. Oh well thats racing. But here are some pics from the event which was put on by the bike shop I part time at. You can see my flat and the dirt on my butt from when I fell in one, the hand off in another, and just riding in some.

Bike polo, races, and other stuff.

So I played bike polo last night which was really fun. I got hurt and mad, but it was in fun. I have been training for a cyclocross race in Rochester, NY at Cobbs hill. I hope to place alright. You can check out the race at www.fullmoonvista.com . Started playing ultimate again which is good and will be going to some tourneys with the RIT team soon. So looks likes lots is on the upswing.

P.S here are some vids of me on my BMX bike from some time ago. Have fun kids.

Things changing!

Doing lots now that I have time due to some lifestyle changes and feel to be regaining a lot of things I lost in the process. I have been racing cyclocross which has been so much fun. I didn't place on my first race cause I got a flat and would have probably gotten top 20, and todays race I placed 23rd. Not bad for my second race. Definitely the most painful thing i've done in a while, but so much freaking fun. Here is a sweet pic of me going over a small barrier. I actually bunnyhoped these before the race but the picture was on some of the last few laps and i couldn't jump much more.

Also I got my car. just doing some work on it buts its nice. in addition to school, work, Road riding, and bmx i've been quite busy. But its soon going to be jobby job search time. I need to get out of Rochester, the drama is too much for me. San Fran please give me an awesome job so I can become a Yuppy.

Ultimate frisbee, my leg burns, and i modded my iphone!

Went to Potsdam for the weekend and had a hell of a time. Wish i Could have stayed longer. Really made me miss playing ulty. It was real cool to see everyone in addition to seeing wheelz propose to karen. That was a treat. Congrats bro. My legs are still killing me from that weekend but it was worth it. Mikes apartment is insane. If you have never been there it as a full sound system for a night club, fog machine, laser show, LCD TV playing music videos, and everything on earth. It was Nuts. Had a great time though.

In job terms Xerox Jazz is going now and I working as an analytical chemist at Xerox for a while as a co-op while teaching and taking classes. I will be ultra busy, plus the fact that I am riding more and trying to play more tennis and ulty.

Finally I added some cool stuff to the iphone, namely, installer app tapp which lets you wirelessly put programs on, the NES emulator, and I used Funtastic to jailbreak my iphone so I could do anything with it. I'm really pumped on my iphone now (Not that I wasn't before!).

I'm looking to buy a car, got some in mind, Altima, Audi A4 wagon, Honda CRV, Volkswagon Jetta ect ect. I'm pretty pumped.

Finally trying to take a trip to San Fran for some fun in the not so sun and find a job. I hope to find a permanent Job by Decemeber for my march graduation. OH yea I forgot I have a thesis to write!!!!!

Ben's benefit and my moving forward

The benefit went so awesome I could even believe it. Raising over 1600 dollars from donated goods ( thank you so much sponsers) and having so much fun with so many people i haven't seen in such a long time. I do feel a bit more complete and accepting of Bens passing. I does get to me at many points of my day, but for some reason the good times I had really has helped me move forward. I am now focused on two things thesis, and job hunt. Cool thing is that Lisa Pritchard (bens mom) has been helping me find a job and forwarded my resume to a few people that seem to think I have real potential to get scooped up by a company. Although my location is still not set in stone, I still have a yearning for the west coast, particularly LA or San Fran. But getting there will be tough for sure. I may have to remain in Rochester and gain a little more experience before. In the meantime, I have things like my proteomics research to focus on in and getting a paper published. Hopefully the ball can start rolling soon on that.

Iphone

Yup I got one. Why? I have no idea. But its been great to me so far. In addition it seems as if job offers have been rolling in for chemist positions. Pretty exciting for me at least. Also getting ready for the Benefit at Lux this weekend for Ben. This will be a tough couple days but in the end it will be awesome. Currently i do still have to get my thesis rolling and get my job offers rolling in. I think many sleepless night lie ahead for me.

Its funny

There are so many ambitions in my mind. So many goals, and yet they seem so unobtainable. I want things to be simple again like they used to be. Come home, eat ramen, talk about whatever, play majong, who knows. I just want that back.

So its been one month

Since Ben passed away. At times I feel as if its all going to be better, then at others I wish with all my heart he was next to me so I could tell him everything that has happened in the time that has passed. I originally thought I would have to go on this journey alone, but I realized how many people have supported me in this ordeal. I really am grateful and thankful for those people who I was and still am able to turn to. If it were for you I probably would have had a much more difficult time. I think it was Bens gift to unite me with people like this.
